Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about using DiningScan.com.

DiningScan.com is a web-based tool that analyzes photos of food to identify ingredients, estimate portion sizes, and provide a detailed nutritional breakdown including macronutrients, vitamins, and minerals. It uses advanced AI vision technology to make nutrition tracking fast and effortless.

Results are AI-generated estimates based on visual analysis and food database references. Accuracy depends on image quality, lighting, food visibility, and portion clarity. While useful for general awareness and tracking trends, results should not be treated as precise laboratory measurements. You can review and edit identified ingredients to improve accuracy.

DiningScan.com accepts JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF image files up to 10 MB in size. For best results, use a clear, well-lit photo where all food items are visible and not heavily obscured.

Uploaded images are processed temporarily to generate your nutrition analysis. Files are automatically deleted from our servers, if the files are expired. We do not sell your images or use them for advertising purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.

Yes

No. DiningScan.com is an informational tool only and cannot replace professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you have specific dietary needs, allergies, medical conditions, or health concerns, please consult a qualified healthcare provider or registered dietitian.

AI estimates portion sizes from visual cues alone, without knowing the actual weight of items on your plate. Hidden ingredients, sauces, mixed dishes, and unusual presentations can affect estimates. We recommend using the edit feature to adjust ingredient names and weights to match your actual meal.

DiningScan.com works best with clearly photographed individual dishes, plated meals, and common foods. Highly processed packaged foods, blurry images, very dark photos, or complex multi-layer dishes may produce less accurate results. Support for additional cuisines and food types continues to improve over time.

User types are divided into Free Member and Premium Member. Free Member have 5 free trial attempts. After the trial attempts are used up, they need to upgrade to Premium Member. Premium Member only need to pay $5.00 per month and can access all the features of the website normally.
